On 16th September, the highest ranking female politician in China, Vice Premier Madam LIU Yandong, visited the VUB and gave a keynote speech to hundreds of students, scholars, professors and external guests. This distinguished visit took place in the context of the 40th birthday of diplomatic relations between the European Union and the People’s Republic of China.

Organised by the International Relations & Mobility Office (IRMO) of the VUB, Madam LIU Yandong’s speech was the highlight of a two-day BACES conference “EU-China Think Tank Forum: EU-China 40 Years A New Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” at the VUB. It was highly appreciated that all current Chinese students and scholars at campus were invited to warmly welcome Madam LIU’s delegation together with our Rector Paul De Knop, Vice Rector Jan Cornelis, President Eddie van Gade, and State Secretary Cecil Jodoigne at the auditorium entrance.
